Wow! I was debating whether or not to read
this book because it was written by, the lady who wrote “Shiver”, “Linger” and
“Forever”. I was not impressed with
their stories’ elements, although I really liked her writing. I figured the
same would qualify for this one, but I was wrong! The story was thoroughly
interesting and clean, except for the occasional bad language. The plot kept me
wanting more, and since I really like Maggie Stiefvater’s writing, it turned
out to be delightful. Sometimes it would drag a tiny bit, but the pace always picked up again, especially since the
“Fey” people were so intriguing.
Sixteen year old, Deirdre
Monaghan, is
an ordinary performing harpist, who has four-leafed clovers appearing
everywhere. To her it’s just a weird coincidence. To “Them” it means a whole
lot more. Before one of her regular performance she meets a guy named Luke who
refuses to tell her anything about himself. As Deirdre grows into her powers,
Luke suddenly becomes dangerous. And with “Them” searching for her, Deirdre’s
family and best friend James, find themselves in serious danger too.
The only issue I have with the plot is that
there wasn’t enough action, like the cover made it out to be. One thing that did keep me reading was the unique story
and beautiful characters. After I read “Lament” I thought it was very
exceptional, considering how disappointed I was with her newer books, “Shiver”
and “linger”. I would gladly read this book
over and over again. If you have read the “Iron Fey” series, and liked them,
this would be another book for you to consider.
Thanks for reading!
