I was disappointed with how slow this book
seemed to me. The whole thing was dragging on and on with a feeling that it
wasn’t going to go anywhere soon. The plot line was very interesting, don’t get me wrong, but I felt that it could have
been sped up a bit. I don’t know, the characters felt a little too flat to me
and I couldn’t relate to any of them. Although, all the medieval themes,
legends and old war stories that were told I found to be amazing. I loved the
wild barbarian people with their use of bows and arrows and riding magnificent
magical horses. But, the overall conflict took way too much time before finally
concluding.
Jonathon was born and raised living with the
brown eyed valley people. But Jonathon himself is a misfit because he has the
blue eyes of the mountain barbarians known as “Dalriada”. The valley people
shun and make fun of him because of his eyes. Suddenly, a turn of major events
changes Jonathon’s life drastically and soon it’s way more than just his eyes that make him different. He has a
strange pulling toward something unknown and dangerous, and it finally forces
him to set out on a journey to discover who he really is.
The mystery and adventure was very exciting,
but it takes forever to get the big picture. I’m not even sure my review of the
plot line described the story well enough, because there are plenty of exciting
things that take place, it just took a long while to get there. So, I can’t possibly summarize it all into
one paragraph. My advice is: if you have a ton of time to read, want something
very interesting, which takes a long
while to finish, than you will like it a lot. I personally prefer stories to be
long, with plenty of action the whole way
through.
