“The Amaranth Enchantment”

Author: Julie Berry

I appreciate your patients in waiting for this review. But my reading time has been cut down due to my new driver’s ed. summer course, and job. But, I’m still doing my best to read as much as I can, whenever I can, because I enjoy reading so much.
I have read this book once before, and I decided to read it again, because I remember it being very good. The characters were wonderful and had unique life styles and backgrounds. Julie Berry did a great job with the story telling because it was fast paced and filled with twists and turns. The plot line in my opinion had some similarities to Cinderella. But, don’t worry; it’s not very noticeable, due to the interesting themes and concepts thrown into the plot.

After Lucinda’s parents died there was no family left except her Uncle and cruel step Aunt. Now she works like a slave in their jewelry store. One day everything changes when a handsome Prince and an old woman with a large stone visit the shop. The mysterious stone unexpectedly finds its way into a very important part of Lucinda’s life. She is compelled to go on a daring quest for the amaranth witch to reclaim what is rightfully theirs. Unfortunately Lucinda discovers that she will have to steal in order to succeed. With a mixture of living as an orphan, servant, thief, and royal, Lucinda uncovers the mystery to her dark past and unknown future.

I want to encourage anyone looking for a good book to read, to read this one. Trust me it’s good. This was the second time I read it and I still enjoyed reading the ending. It was one of those books with so many ups and downs that it definitely keeps you on your toes the whole way through.
