“Iron Fey - book 1; Iron King”

I really liked this book. I am not much for weird stories and strange ugly creatures, but, this one was highly interesting. I was hooked until the end. The characters were so unique and had a very distinctive voice. For once, I could not decide who my favorite characters were. So, I am going to say Meghan Chase, Puck, Prince Ash and Grimilkin were all my favorites. There were modern day teenage issues in our world, which I didn’t care for. Plus, a separate world filled with danger and mystical creatures kept me on the edge of my seat. I will warn you that there was a lot of violence and some of it was a little graphic, but, in my opinion the fast paced action was very thrilling. There was one downfall about this book because nothing was surprising or unexpected with the plot. I was a little disappointed about that, it was totally predictable. The only things that surprised me were how much romance it had, and there were even a few comical scenes in the story that made me chuckle.

Meghan Chase feels like a nobody, and her 16^th birthday is coming up. She is embarrassed in school and her family barley remembers she exists. With her life falling apart she will not be prepared for what lies in store for her. Her little half brother goes missing, and with the help of her best friend Robbie, she must get him back before it’s too late.  In the world of Nevernever, home to the “faery” folk, Meghan goes on an epic journey meeting up with human eating monsters, new friends and other enemies along the road. In Nevernever there are lands that thrive on the mystical imagination of us humans, and lands that are driven by our own dreams for technology improvement. Rumors of war are spreading throughout the Nevernever lands and Meghan gets wrapped up in it all. But, all she wants is to get her brother back!

The ending was alright, it finished by wrapping up the story, (which made the ending satisfying) and then it was setup for a sequel. I have not read or watched Alice in Wonderland, but, from what I have heard about it, I would say Iron King had some similarity to it.

One thing I should warn you about is, after I read the book I now have a feeling of guilt whenever I pick up my computer, mp3 player or Wii game controller. LOL!
