The author, Pauline, is a new friend of mine
and such a nice girl. I have enjoyed our adventure of getting to know one
another on-line, over the phone and then at the library. We are close in age
and both share the same desire to become an author. I am proud of her
accomplishment in writing this wonderful book.
Evelyn Taylor doesn’t remember anything from
her past, because she has gotten into a car crash and lost her memory. At least
that is what they tell her. They also told her that she never ages and has the
ability to communicate with plants. Evelyn knows there must be more than what
they are telling her. Who is she? And why are they keeping secrets? What is it
about her that deserves so much secrecy? A seven foot high wall around her backyard
is the only thing that separates her from knowing the truth of what the world
and people outside her prison are like. As her memories gradually return, the
mystery slowly unfolds. With the help from a new friend, Evelyn will set out on
a journey that will take her beyond this world.
The way it was written was definitely a
faster pace than what I’m used to in most books. I think it could have used a
few more details in scene descriptions, but with the use of many vivid actions
it was thoroughly interesting. The story line was wonderful and kept me wanting
more. Believe me, when I tell you, the
ending will be nothing like what you would expect. Good job Pauline! :)
