I have been thinking about how I was going to
review this book, but I didn’t know where to begin. How about this, “The
Diamond of Drury Lane” was well written. It was a mystery, but I felt as if the
plot didn’t really focus on it specifically. There were lots of other things
going on, like, determining who she could trust, and trying to be either
civilized or wild amongst different groups of people. As the mystery
progressed, a few things popped up that might surprise you. It wasn’t the best
book I ever read, but it was good enough for me to read all the way through.
In the filthy city streets of London, rests
the Theater Royal on Drury Lane. The young girl named after the theater, Miss
Catherine Royal commonly called “Cat”, lives behind its curtains searching for
hidden secrets. As a baby she was found on the theater’s steps, and ever since has
grown up doing small tasks for the owner, Mr. Sheridan. After overhearing a private conversation, Cat
knows there is a diamond hidden somewhere in the Theater Royal. What she doesn’t
realize is that there’s more to the million dollar diamond than she thought.
With gold diggers on the prowl for the diamond, and a cruel gang leader seeking
to harm her, Cat runs into situations that will unexpectedly land her in jail!
I did feel like it dragged its feet now and
then, but before I could doubt it, the pace quickened. As far as I know, there
are three more books after this one; I’m just not sure how good they are. Usually,
the books after the first aren’t as good, in my opinion. But, looking on the
bright side, it didn’t end with a cliff-hanger, lol!
