“Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione” (The Knights of Arrethtrae)

Author: Chuck Black

This was a very interesting book. It was short, making it a quick read, but I enjoyed it.

There is more than one main character, Sir Kendrick and his young charge Sir Duncan. They were sent on a mission to learn more about a secretive new order known as the Conquistero Knights. When they got to the city of Bel Lione, they learn about Lord Ra and his festivals where young people attend and often never go back home. The adventure begins when Sir Duncan disappears. Then most of the time the story is focused on Sir Kendrick who is attempting to find a mysterious warrior who could aid in finding Sir Duncan. He must hurry to save Duncan before it becomes too late and call upon the knights of Chessington to join in the battle against the evil Lord Ra.

This story is filled with a lot of action, adventure, unexpected new friends, and good story writing by the author. This is a book I would recommend. I will warn the younger kids, there is a bit of torture in it. Other than that it was very good. I did have a favorite character, it was Sir Duncan, mostly because of the courage he had. The author has more books in “The Knights of Arrethtrae” series, but they follow the stories of different knights.
