Author: Jaclyn Dolamore
I could not decide if I liked this book or not. I am fine with stories that have a little magic, but there were some parts in this book that had dark magic. I don’t care for demons or dark magic, but if you like that sort of thing then you should have no problem with it. The story in itself was definitely unique, in my opinion, enough for me to be curious to find out what happens.

It’s about a young girl named, Nimira, who
sings and dances for pennies as a living. When a wealthy young sorcerer (Hollin
Perry) hires her to sing with a piano-playing clockwork man (kind of like a
robot), she accepts hoping that it will be the beginning of a better life. But,
when she starts the job, everyone seems to think that the clockwork man is
haunted or a ghost. As she gets to know Hollin and practices with the clockwork
man, things start to turn upside down. Nimira soon finds out about the
clockwork man’s secret and other secrets about Hollin that make liking the
sorcerer more difficult.
It did not have a satisfying ending for me, but you can still fill in how it ends with your imagination. (Maybe the author was hoping to make a sequel, who knows?) I also thought that the characters did not have a good voice of their own, they were just too flat. I have to admit, the author did a good job with the plot. All in all, it was a good read, a few twists here and there, and puzzling problems with questions that kept you hooked until you found the answers.
