This book was by far the creepiest I’ve read.
But I loved it! The writing wasn’t amazingly spectacular, but it was still
good, and the characters were definitely unique. It was the mystery and the
spine chilling elements that caught my attention. I was hoping, though, that it
was a book that could stand alone, but when I finished it, I discovered that
there are six books total in the “Hallowmere” series. A little disappointed
that I have another series to finish, but I’m also excited, because I
definitely wanted more!
Corrine is sent to live with her cold hearted
Uncle after her mother dies. Soon after, some unfortunate turn of events her
Uncle sends her off to live at Falston Reformatory School for Young Ladies.
There her dreams of fairies and mysterious people, who seem to be warning her, become
more alive than ever. When Corrine accidentally discovers love letters written
by a medieval monk to a forbidden lover, she uncovers more about the Fey and
their terms of friendship. Meanwhile, the staff and teachers at the school
suddenly become untrustworthy. If the keepers of the school can’t be trusted,
can the students be trusted? Corrine discovers from both her dreams and
secretive news floating throughout the school, that girls have disappeared,
never to be seen again. Is it possible that Corrine might be next? Mysteries,
riddles and puzzles are sure to baffle you as Corrine’s visions grow more
disturbing, and ghosts appear in the yard.
The ending was extremely interesting…but
nowhere near solved. And the whole entire time building up to that point, I was
glued to the pages completely enthralled with the creepy mystery. I’m not yet
sure if I would recommend it, since I haven’t had the chance to read the rest.
But for the first book, I have to say, it has definitely become one of my
favorites.
