Author: Maggie Stiefvater
I read and reviewed both “Shiver” and
“Linger”, and both ended without being solved. I was not impressed with their
story lines, nor could I relate to the characters. But when I saw “Forever” on
the shelf at my library I thought, “Why not? If it’s bad, I just won’t read it
again and at least I would have closure with these books.” I took my time
reading it because quite frankly I wasn’t enjoying it. But I have to admit, it
was better than the second book, which I had found highly inappropriate. This
third book wasn’t too bad, but in order to understand what was going on you
were required to have read the last two books. (Something I wouldn’t
recommend.) The author is an amazing writer; I have to give her that. But if she’s
aiming for a younger audience, in my opinion, her stories need to be cleaned up
a bit more.
Warning! Spoilers for those who haven’t yet read “Shiver” or
“Linger”! If you plan on reading them I would suggest skipping the plot
description below….
Grace is now a werewolf, living in the woods
as a wild beast or in Beck’s house with her boyfriend Sam as a human. She’s
torn between two lives. But that is not the main problem. Mr. Culpeper has decided after losing his son
to the wolves, that the pack of wolves near the small town are too comfortable
around humans and need to be killed. With Grace and a few other werewolves
running wild with the pack, Sam and Cole (another werewolf) must find a way to
save them before time runs out.
…The story of course was written in first
person, and each of the main characters took turns expressing the world through
their voice. There was the voice of Sam, Grace, Cole, and Isobel. The book ended but I’m thinking there might be
a fourth because it was left a little open for a sequel. It just depends on how
you look at it. In my opinion, I’m hoping there isn’t another sequel.
