Okay, I first want to let you all know that I
don’t read books about vampires, period. That is just something that I have
decided not to do. When I picked up this book, I read that it was focused on
psychic powers and visions. I thought that it sounded interesting and decided
to give it a try. What they failed to mention was that vampires, werewolves and
shape-shifters play a big part in the story. I’m fine with the other creatures,
just not vampires, especially when they frame the vampires as “good” people. By
the time I found out about the vampires involvement in the story, I was already
well into the book. Unfortunately, I’m not one to leave a book unfinished.
Violet has uncontrollable visions that come
true. So, when she feels a connection towards the Winterhaven School, she is
not surprised to discover that all the students there are Psychic. Surprisingly,
fitting in at the new school is not a challenge, and the impossibly cute
student, Aiden, already has his eyes on her. As their relationship begins to
blossom, Violet learns of Aiden’s big secret. It comes as a shock to Violet
especially when it makes their life together nearly impossible. Doubling their secretive
struggles, Violet has a vision of his death, and sees that she is the one who’s
fated to do the dirty job.
I felt that the friendships and romance came
on a little too quick, making the plot very unrealistic. But, it was a
thrilling story, filled with scary chills and a few surprising elements. The
ending had a few loose ends, so I have no doubt there will be a sequel in the
future. It didn’t take long to read, and was interesting enough for me to want
to finish it. I don’t know if I would recommend this book to just anyone. But
all in all, if you are into vampires and stuff like that, then you would like
this book.
Stay tuned for my next review, “The Sweet Far
Thing”!
I want to ask my loyal followers to give me a
little extra time to read “The Sweet Far Thing”, since it is 819 pages long.
Unless I read exactly 117 pages a day, I won’t be finished within a week. But I
promise you’ll be the first to read my review as soon as I’m done. Thanks for
your patience! :)
