Author: Leah Cypess
She is an author who knows how to tell a
story! The plot reveals just the right amount of information at just the right
time. Enough to keep you satisfied, but still keeps you wondering. I wasn’t
sure about this book when I picked it up, but I decided to give it a try. It
was a fantasy that takes place in a fictional world with Kings and Queens. I am
guessing this is a fictional world since the author doesn’t make that
information very clear.
Isobel is an immortal creature called a
Shifter and has protected the royal family for centuries, at least, that is
what she is told. But, her memory can’t recall anything of her past beyond the
day Prince Rokan had found her roaming wild in the Mistwood forest. He binds
her to a promise that she will protect him and only him, with a bracelet. Isobel soon senses that something is terribly
wrong, Prince Rokan is keeping secrets and Isobel knows she can’t trust him. She
soon becomes unsure of her promise to protect the prince after discovering the
true identity of his attempted assassinator.
As the truths unfold, and important memories return, Isobel struggles
with an important secret of her own. She can’t remember how to shift into
different forms!
This was a thrilling mystery that kept me
reading. I thought that the conclusion to the mystery was very unexpected and
wonderfully executed. I definitely recommend this book.
