“Youngest Templar; Orphan of Destiny”

Author: Michael P. Spradlin

Orphan of Destiny is the third and last book of the “Youngest Templar” series. I enjoyed reading these books sooooooo much; I was really sad and disappointed when the adventures had come to an end.  I wouldn’t mind reading them again and again, because I loved the characters and the individual personalities they portrayed.

Tristan and his friends are making the final push to deliver the Holy Grail. However, there are many obstacles along the way to slow their pace. After sailing to England, Robard, Maryam, Tristan and the little dog named Angel, travel to Robards home in the forest. They meet up with old friends along the road, and learn more of Tristan’s past. After learning some depressing news, Robard, angers another enemy. (Unfortunately, this added to their ever growing list of enemies.) Once again, Tristan has to come up with a plan to get them out of another mess.  They finally head for Scotland in the direction of the Holy Grails delivery destination.  Anticipating Tristan’s actions, Sir Hugh and his men set up a trap. All hope is lost, or so they think.

I must note that the character Robard Horde was made out to be like Robin Hood, with his “Merry men” and everything. (Disappointment!) Plus, there were a few sad moments in this particular book, and it didn’t end quite as well as I had hoped. There were a few things I would have added or changed, but, overall it was exceptional. Despite a few downfalls, I thought the story line turned out rather well. My favorite scene in this book was after Tristan and his friends had landed in England. Their conversations were, as usual, hilarious! These characters definitely had a depth in voice, and because of their different personalities they tend to disagree and not get along. It gives the story a more believable cast of characters. I would highly recommend these books to everyone.
