Author: Maggie Stiefvater I heard that this book was a little creepy. I wasn’t creeped out at all during the story, but then again my personality is hard to frighten. It was written in a style similar to “East”. The voice of the main character, Grace, and the voice of Sam, took turns during the story. How the author described the scenes in her writing (in my opinion) could have been better.
Strangely, after being attacked by a pack of wolves, Grace finds them to be fascinating. The wolf with the yellow eyes is especially interesting and she considers it her own. The story picks up pace when Grace discovers the secret of the wolves living in her back yard woods. They are werewolves, turning into wolves when the temperature gets dreadfully cold and humans when their surroundings are warm. Grace falls in love with the human form of the yellow eyed wolf, Sam. But, he is unable to stay in his human form for long. Grace is soon put under more pressure when a few of her school friends turn into werewolves and demand a cure from her. Can Grace keep the pack of werewolves a secret and find a cure to make them permanently human again?
I gotta tell ya, it was very interesting. In the end there was something that kinda clicks, and suddenly it all makes sense. I would recommend it, if you like werewolves, romance, and a little twist of mystery.
